Style Sophistication Performance
Introducing the 'Ducati 916 Monoposto'
By 1994, Ducati DNA had been fully cemented. Massimo Tamburini designed his Masterpiece, the 916, described by MCN in 2014 as 'the Most Beautiful motorcycle of the last 50 years'.
It represented the pure essence of Ducati DNA fusing the concepts of style, sophistication and performance together in one unique bike. The 916 had everything that a Ducati designed and built in the mid-90s could possibly have.
A Work of Art, the 916 was balanced, Elegant and Sleek, without any trace of excess. It also boasted innovative technical features that saw it gain 'Bike of the Year' awards from almost every specialist magazine around the world.
The 916 was undoubtedly a Masterpiece of Design, but it was also the perfect synthesis of the three values for which the brand still stands for today.
A Ducati Collector's item with a very special Vin ZDM916S003000
The reason why this chassis number is so import is because the 10th' digit represents the build year of 1993.
This is where the Exclusiveness of this bike begins as Official Ducati production data shows that:
Only 4 Monoposto 916 bikes/frames were produced in 1993!!
Around this time in 1993/94 there was a well publicised fire at the Ducati paint shop so all final assembly and production was moved from Bologna to the Cagiva factory in Varese. Here assembly was completed by hand and all 916 bikes of this time adopted the Cagiva 'Elephant' logo on the fuel filler cap.
This bike was first delivered in Germany to Motorrad-Technik-Wunstorf on 14/02/1995 as showing PDI stamped in its service booklet & registered to its 1st and Only Owner on the 22/02/1995.
Having been standing inside a collection most of its life the 916 was treated to a gentle restoration in 2019 to refresh some of the oxidised components and any perished rubber parts replaced with new original items.
With having covered only 10,000Km during its 30years since production and its 1 Stamp in the book its next service is due at 12,500km.
